Libertad McLimans

Libertad was born in Caracas Venezuela from Colombian parents and was raised in Cali Colombia, she is of the Embera-Katio tribe. She currently lives near Detroit Michigan with her husband and daughter where she support her elder David Garcia, and performs ceremonies focusing primarily on women’s reproductive health. For Libertad, as for many indigenous women, medicine ceremonies and beadwork is an extension of her spirituality. The ceremonies has been learn from Elders from different tribes in Colombia and Mexico, and Now from Native Americans. The beadwork process is a form of meditation and every bead is infused with her prayers.
